UNESCO World Heritage

UNESCO World Heritage sites is a universal application providing information about some of the most beautiful and interesting places in the world. Covering all of the sites across the world, it’s a fantastic way to browse them, taking in the information, or looking at planning your next adventure. Based on a book of the same name, it’s interesting how it has been turned into an app for the latest tech devices.

For something like this, the content is the most important feature and it has been done brilliantly. With a great combination of information, such as the history of each site, pictures, a map and fun facts, there is enough to keep you occupied for a long time. Browsing all of the sites will certainly take long enough, providing hours of entertainment. As it’s separated in different categories, such as A to Z, or by country, it is certainly organised well.

It’s crucial that the app is easy to use, and this meets that criteria. It’s simple and easy to navigate, with good controls that mean you won’t need so spend hours getting to what you want. Each device has a different UI, which means it’s great to use on both. As well as the content, it’s also nice that a few more features have been added to make it better, such as the ability to list favourites or mark places as visited. It’s a great way to keep track of the places you have already been, or the places you want to visit in the future.

While the price might seem expensive at first, the more you look into it, the better value it becomes. This is especially the case since it is universal, so you get to enjoy it on both devices at the same time. It’s much better than other apps that make you purchase the app more than once. With the content that is on offer though, it’s certainly worth purchasing, as it’s the best way to explore the UNESCO World Heritage sites. Compared to the price of the book it gets even better, as the book costs a lot more, making this look amazing value for money.

It might be a great app, but there are certainly a few things that could be done to improve the application. Notably, this would be the addition of more photographs. The locations are marked as world heritage sites as they are fantastic, yet most of them only have one photograph. It would also be nicer if the photos were of better quality, as although they look good on the iPhone, it would be nice to zoom more on the iPad.

Overall, the app is certainly a fantastic purchase. Not only is it great to just browse, but it’s also got some fantastic feature that make it a great app.  If there was one improvement, it would be that more pictures would be added, as that really would take it to the next level. Even though it’s the only app that covers these sites, it’s still a great choice.
